Absolutely and fortunately, making this homemade cheap halal tuna cakes recipe is super duper easy.
This Halal friendly tuna patty is low in carbs. It’s only 3-5 grams net carbs per serving, and tastes unbelievably delicious! Replace the cracker with almond flour to make it keto-friendly.
Ingredients for Halal Tuna Cakes
- Canned halal tuna (I used San Marino 180g corned tuna in this one)
- Tomato (1pc, minced)
- Garlic (1clove, minced)
- Onion (1pc, medium-sized, minced)
- Egg
- 1 Crushed Cracker (Substitute 1 tbsp flour or corn starch)
- Coconut Oil/Mantika for frying
- Pinch of salt (if you prefer a bit salty)
Cooking Tuna pattie
First, Open the canned halal tuna and drain the oil very well. Next crush the Skyflakes cracker into powder.
Second, In a bowl, mix all ingredients; drain halal tuna, tomato, onion, garlic, and crushed cracker, and the egg. The mixture will be moist at first but will hold together once you roll it into a ball.
The third step is to get cooking. Over medium heat, prepare a frying pan. Fry tablespoon-size dollops for 3-4 minutes on each side in hot oil. This will yield 8-10 tuna cakes.
If the mixture is wet and sloppy, your tuna hasn’t been drained enough. Add an extra teaspoon of crushed cracker or flour to make it stick together.
You can serve with a squeeze of fresh lime and a dollop of ketchup or mayonnaise. or in my case, I just dip it in vinegar and a cup of rice. Yum.
